Yes. I tried it. It made no difference at all. I have had much better success with emu oil.

I tried it - did not help me : ( either. But, I guess, could be good lubricant as any other oil used topically- Val has good result with it in that respect.

That's how I feel, Erik. Plus half the so-called "cures" at the boardsailor site.

I tried Dr Wheatgrass and it is working

Post by Cathy in Ohio on June 19th 2009, 7:52 am

I am new to forum and mentioned this in my intro post.

I have had a nasty anal fissure for now a little over a month, though only diagnosed a few weeks ago. Doctor initially gave me RX for hydrocortisone, that did nothing and made me bleed more. Very painful to insert the tip for interior application too. Terrible experience with it.

I saw the Dr Wheatgrass product from doing a google on internet. I read all the testimonials about how it helped anal fissures (plus other problems) and very reluctantly ordered some ($30). It came on Monday of this week (it is now Friday) and since first applying it Monday nite (and totally discontining the irritating hydrocortisone), the wheatgrass cream has worked wonderful. I am NOT pain free, but SO MUCH better than I have been. I feel like I am healing. I put a little on my tag and around my anus, then put some on a q-tip to get the inside of my anus and fissure. I do not bleed anymore. It does not hurt to stick the qtip in there. I am the first to admit I was skeptical and thought I pissed away $30 when I ordered it. But it IS working for me. I even emailed the doctor on the website who fields questions or comments. he is very responsive and got back with me twice fairly quickly about questions I had (he is in Australia). He told me "a little goes a long way" and he is right. With each application, you don't have to use much. I am hoping this continues to sooth my fissure. Good luck to everyone who is looking for relief.

Wow, I am happy to hear that it is helping you. We have had on or two people come here and state the wheatgrass helped them also, but if I recall correctly, one of them later continued to have problems. One week is a bit premature, Cathy, though. AF's can calm down for several days and seduce a person into thinking they are healing and then come right back with a vengeance -- I say this not to discourage you but so you won't be too discouraged if it happens.
Do please report back here over time and let us know how you do, as the jury is really still out on the effectiveness of wheatgrass .. here's hoping it works wonders for you!

Wheatgrass

Post by Cathy in Ohio on June 20th 2009, 5:34 pm

Hi Kim
Thanks for your post.................good advice I must say. Though it appears to be helping me, just from reading a bunch of posts on this website, you are definately right about the unpredictableness of fissures.................I am not taking anything for granted......I realize they can come back with a vengeance.
Thanks for that dose of reality!! I just keep hoping though!!!! Staying positive but realistic is key here! Thanks again, will keep you posted.

I have lost 12 lbs, though the fissure diet is not the most pleasant, I am happy to loose a little junk out of my trunk Smile

Wheatgrass......entering week 3 of using it

Post by Cathy in Ohio on June 28th 2009, 7:42 pm

All
Wanted to update you all from last post.

After stopping the prescription (Proctosyl) and starting the Dr Wheatgrass Anti-Recovery Cream, my fissure is immensly better.

I am not pain free yet during bm time, I am still using the Lancaine (RX) gel 20 minutes before a bm (it does not take all the pain away but sure takes the edge off not to mention lessens the anxiety about the initial excrutiating bms!!)

I apply the wheatgrass cream around the outside and put some on a qtip for the inside. The best way I have found to do this is by lying on my left side with right leg up and bent. I never had luck inserting the qtip standing or squatting on the toilet. You gotta be laying down on your side. I even take a blanket to work and go into a (locked Smile office midday.

I cannot say enough about the wheatgrass cream...within a few days I felt relief (less swelling, bleeding stopped, etc). I am still watching what I eat, drinking a ton, taking stool softeners, etc. I am not thinking I am home free yet, believe me. But this stuff is really working for me. I try to do 3 times a day, with one of those times being after my bm.................like I said bm's are not still pain free, but the amount of time after a bm where you are uncomfortable (a couple days in the beginning I was in pain for a few hours)....if you reapply this cream after a bm..........you immediately can tell it is soothing the fissure....and your pain is more bearable.

http://www.drwheatgrass.com.au/conditions/anal-fissure/Default.htm

I would never ever recommend a product I even had slight doubt about, but this is the truth: this cream is remarkable. I would never have thought I would have felt this good by now knowing what a mess I was just a few weeks ago........I honestly thought I was going to go out of my mind with the pain.
I know there is some cuckoo stuff out there, this is the real deal (at least for me!)

That is wonderful you are feeling so much better and the wheatgrass is helping you, Cathy! There's *nothing* like a little soothing and calming of the butt after a rough BM! Witha little luck and diligence, you will continue to improve until this AF nightmare completely disappears! Good luck! thecat

wheatgrass

Post by Cathy in Ohio on June 29th 2009, 9:37 am

Thanks Kim. I am crossing my fingers, toes, etc this nightmare of AF is healing and will continue to be diligent about eating veggies, drinking lots of water, etc.

I DO terribly miss my occasional glass of wine or martini........................I am scared to death to have a summer cocktail for fear of bad after effects I have read about from drinking with this fissure (ie the next day troubles!!). I sure could use a cocktail, and cannot wait to indulge again!!!!

Re: Wheat Grass

Cathy, I drink a single beer each night with my dinner, and my stools are always easy to pass, wet and soft (wow, TMI!) and I wonder if a single drink would really make any difference? It may not be worth the risk, but I would think overindulgence would be the risky thing, drinking one drink with some food *probably* would have no effect BUT I am just guessing and not prodding!
