talks about the role of nitric oxide and wound healing. nitric oxide pills can be bought any vitamin shoppe, etc. it causes blood vessel expansion. only downside is (imo) that it could potentially increase bleeding. im thinking of giving it a try. ill post about it if i do. soooooooo yeah. the extra blood volume means more nutrients to muscles and skin. maybe it could help. im at my wits end with this stupid wound

Last night I went to PF Changs last night and ordered a vegetarian meal, basically stirfried veggies. It was a big meal for my body size and I was quite full. I took my normal dose of miralax and even drank some metamusil before bed. When I woke up this morning to make a BM... it was quite large, but still soft at the same time. The result was a re-tear, and the most blood I have ever seen come from my AF's.

My new rule: smaller portion meals= smaller bm's.

I've found that aspirin is the only pain med that helps me with hemorrhoids. I've gotten the impression that the blood thinning effect has helped them heal faster, but I'm not sure if that's really the case. I'm not sure how it would affect fissures. Anyone have any idea how taking apirin really affects these conditions?

OK this is probably going to be a dumb question, but are there any fast food y'all know of that you'd consider fissure-safe? Or at least less dangerous than most?

I'm starting to think that if my damn fissure isn't going to heal anyway, maybe one day I may as well just totally go to town and stuff my face full of fast food and then wash it down with a few pints of beer. You know kind of go into a "screw it!" mode and blow off some steam, feel and live like a normal person if ...

This mostly for you poor fissure suffers who live in the US near a Costco and use MiraLAX for soft happy poops. Just a heads up that they're having a sale on MiraLAX right now. Regular price for a two-pack of the big 17.9 oz bottles is $30. Right now they have a $6 off coupon that makes the two-pack only $24, which is just barely more than what a single bottle goes for at most drug stores. Just grabbed a couple myself and am armed with poop softeners for a few months now

Before I got my AF, my diet revolved around dairy and meat...and beer. Burgers and pizza were my staples. And I practically never cooked. That has all changed.

After reading these books, I no longer view my situation negatively like, "oh, I have to eat healthy now" ... I view ...

without going into too much detail, this may help those who have tried just about everything and still having some difficulty.

although i am a very big advocate for macrobiotics, this doesn't require you to become macrobiotic. just requires 20-30 minutes of your time daily for about 60 days, which i also don't think have to be continuous but more like every other day or 2-3 times per week until you have done 60 treatments.

good luck. i am going to start in october!

All,

I found this on the net last week, really is working for me. Coconut oil has been the best balm/salve/ointment I have tried on my arse. helps it heal, keeps it clean, lubed and non-itchy. Also has a very mild smell and washes off easily. I will be posting a much longer diatribe soon. Have my last CRS appointment Monday to see how I healed after my fissurectomy. Yes, I took the leap and I really think it payed off.

much love to you all.

Hi everyone -

FYI - I discovered a new supplement that might help some folks. A ER doctor told me that Bromelain/Pineapple Extract was great for hemmie/AF patients. We had a patient yesterday in severe pain and he recomended this until she got into surgery with the CRS. I am sure it is not a miracle cure, but it is worth trying. It is supposed to reduce inflammation. It comes in pill form and I looked at it on the vitamin shoppe online & it is fairly inexpensive ( great for this economy). ...

Hey everyone!

I saw my CRS yesterday and she gave me an ointment called Calmoseptine. It is a GODSEND!!!!!!!!!! She described it as a "super diaper rash cream". It is so cooling and relaxing! It feels like menthol - as if you have Vicks Vapor Rub on your bum. It lasts for hours! It is not a RX. She said drugstores usually do not carry it, but if you ask the pharmasist, ...

Sorry I havent been here for awhile. Things have been crazy. I finished up teaching kindergarten for 3 months (which included doing report cards and conferences) and now am continuously searching for jobs, since we all know that the job market is horrible.

I think in my last post I shared that I had been diagnosed with anemia. So far, taking the iron supplements, as long as I stay on my fissure diet, hasn't been too bad. Its turned my BM's a blackish color, but I guess ...

My fissure is pretty much entirely healed these days. I have a skin tag formed by scar tissue according to my GP/family doctor. I've not seen blood on the tissue for a long time. I owe my successes entirely to Psyllium husk, to the tune of about 15g per day. I eat a diet rich in wholegrains and cereals, but this is never enough for a guaranteed healing schedule.

So I am wondering if anyone has eve taken this fiber. There are 6 grams of fiber per tablespoon and it is supposed to be gentle on the tummy.

I've just used some M.O.M yesterday night, and this morning had 2 extra soft BM's.

Which is good because the last couple of days I've been having really hard BM's.

I was thinking of using Miralax in the morning and M.O.M at night.

Does anyone know if there is any side effects in taking both on the same day?

When you take your Miralax (or other softener)

Has anyone tried applying VitaminE to their fissure? I just remember it as a child anytime i had a stubborn wound that was slow to heal vitamin E was very soothing and seemed to aid the healing process very quickly. I am afraid to try anything that may exacerbate the situation so i thought i'd ask first.
