| All,
I am getting addicted to this forum and am not getting other things done that I need to do, but that is my problem. At any rate, I had a couple of ideas:
Would it be helpful to compile stats on responses to ointments? I realize that the info could be meaningless as we are all individuals with different body chemistries. For example, if we conducted a poll re: penicillin effectiveness, there might be some for whom penicillin is effective, but others are allergic, etc.
Secondly, yesterday I had the idea of using "imaging" with my situation. Just as I have seen some cancer patients on TV talking about imagining their tumor shrinking after treatment and they thought this was effective. I know the mind/heart is powerful, and I don't know if this would be a useful technique/strategy or not. Just some thoughts. I'll post the websites for those two alternative hemmroid treatment centers in another thread.
To continued improvement for all,
Cheryl K. |

| cheryl - i have a book about the power of your subconcious mind and it talks a lot about "imaging". the correlation between your thoughts and your physical symptoms is supposedly very strong. the more you think bad things, the more your body will manifest these things, and the more you think happiness, healthiness, and healing, the more your body will tend towards these. i've tried practicing this before going to bed, just thinking over and over about the wound healing together and me being painfree. it hasn't worked yet.....but it can't hurt to think positive more often than not! maybe if we all think positive for all of each other everyday, we'll see some results |

| Juney,
Thanks for the feedback. I think it makes sense and is also is what Dr. Peale says in his "Power of Positive Thinking." I am reading a book right now--"Transforming Anxiety." I am only in the third chapter. Will give an update when I'm done. Positive thoughts can affect our entire body, so even if the fissure doesn't heal using this method, we are most likely helping our blood pressure, heart, and other organs!
To good health,

| Juney and Lars,
Several people (including a minister friend of mine) have suggested reading The Secret to me. I have so many books I want to read and not enough time, it seems.
Lars,
I have been trying to send healing energy/prayers to you. I could literally feel your pain in your first message. I would suggest you try a Reiki treatment if it is available in your area.
To everyone's continued improvements,
Cheryl K. |

| i've heard of the secret, but the book i have is called "the power of your subconscious mind". it's pretty inspiring, there's even a whole chapter on people who "miraculously" healed w/ the power of positive thinking. i have to admit i have my doubts, but it can't hurt to think positive anyway it'll definitely make you feel better mentally! |

| Juney...That book sounds the ticket
The mind has such a strong influence over our well being, i had to change my chain of thought to a more postive outlook ...its actually alot easyier than wrecking ones head with negative thoughts !!! I feel so much better mentally beacuse of this |

| i totally believe in the mind body connection........
being hiv+ for nearly 20 years now and not having any issues with it (knock on wood....), i have rarely ever thought about the virus taking me down.
i try to think about it as god's will for me. and that everything is god's will.
in turn, whenever i had suffering moments with the fissure, it was like making up for whatever bad things i have done but also to take up suffering for others; to help me be more compassionate, and to use the time to also see what my body was needing.
aside from fiber, i just know that i wasn't in a good spot and i had so much anxiety and worry. full of stress.
stress is probably a big culprit in all of this fissure stuff for those of us who don't have any additional features of crohns or ibs or other challenges.
some other books that helped me - just tidbits here and there -
a course in miracles
the power of positive thinking (this one was more for when i first learned about being positive....)
the tao of pooh
the teachings of buddha
and of course, i love reading the book of job and habbakuk in the bible (spelling).
i know my mind can be my worst enemy. and i have learned to make it my best friend in times when i just can't seem to put a handle on it.
the mind is definitely an amazing tool in dealing with our most challenging ailments. _________________ the marathon is on oct 26....just right around the corner....... yikes! |

| On TV this morning a doc on a health program stated that there is an emotional and spirital aspect to every physical problem. I will try to watch the repeat tomorrow and get more of a reference to post. But this lends credence to the mind/body connection which, we all know, is strong. Seems that many members of this group have stress and anxiety issues like I do which probably contribute greatly to our physical probs.
Thanks,
Cheryl K. |
