Re: Discouraged after seeing blood.
I would probably go into cardiac arrest if I hadn't had a bm in three days as I usually go 2 or 3 times a day now. I used to go every other day b/4 these const problems and did sometimes go every three days years ago, but now I wouldn't be able to stand the apprehension. It works better for me to keep everything flowing so I know how best to try to adjust my laxative, but everyone is different!!

Re: Discouraged after seeing blood.
Hope everyone is well,
Today I had a bout of diarrhea, and again had blood. I wasn't real discouraged this time since I have read on this forum that that is normal, if it only happens every once in awhile and not daily.
Well, I went to lie down on my bed and crossed my legs, and that's when the discomfort came back. I was freaking out because I haven't felt that type pain, for about 3 weeks now.
I went racing for some advil and took about 4 of them at once.
I sat down to relax, and after about 20 minutes the pain subsided.
I have an appointment with my CRS tomorrow, and I'll ask him if this thing is healing or not.
It's starting to get really frustrating because when I think I'm doing good, BAM! I get thrown back down to the floor when any setback happens.
I have read on this board that setbacks are common, but mentally this AF is getting pretty tiring.
:dddd:

Re: Discouraged after seeing blood.
Yes, I think AF can often be worse mentally than physically. That is why I am taking an A/D!! Keep us posted on what your CRS says as we all continue to learn from each other. Good luck!!

Re: Discouraged after seeing blood.
It takes a terrible toll mentally, but imagine the mental anguish if you were in pain all day, or even half the day every day, like I was.
Count your blessings.
Count your blessings.

Re: Discouraged after seeing blood.
raul,
your fissure is doing a little tango with you....it gives you like 3 good weeks of making you think it is healing nicely and then presto, a nice little reminder....then you will go back to feeling good for a bit and then, "hello, thought you'd forget about me, huh?" the fissure appears.....
as long as the times in between get longer and longer, you are on good course.
unfortunately sometimes the pain makes it worse and feels much worse than it is but it will subside.
hang in there.....

I second that. If you can go more than two weeks at a time without having pain, or much discomfort, that's a good sign that some healing is taking place!

That sucks but also that little reminder to stay on cue with everything and extra measures too while the warning sign is flashing !!

Re: Discouraged after seeing blood.
Just wanted to update everyone on how today went with my CRS.
I was a bit nervous going to see the CRS today, I didn't know what he was going to find.
I walked into his examination room, and told me to lay down.
Which I did, he proceded to examine me.
I thought he was going to use the anascope, like he did last time,(which feels really uncomfortable back there)but he didn't.
He only stuck his finger in there and asked me If it hurt, it did but only a little.
He stretched the anal area, and examined it for a few seconds.
After he was finished he told me that the AF was still there, but he said it was more shallow than last time he looked at it.
I asked him if it was looking better to him, he concluded that it was getting better.
I was really excited when he told me that, mentally it boost me up, big time!! All that hard work was finally paying off.
Of course he told me. what you guys where saying all along, that the healing process for an AF is really slow and especially if we get those sphincter spasms. He told me that if I felt any major pain or discomfort for a continuing amount of time to go back and see him.
I am feeling better than I did yesterday, mentally that is.
This is still a battle, against my own body, only time will tell if I heal 100 percent.
Thanks for everyone's continued support!!!

Getting that positive feedback from the doctor sure helps mentally, doesn't it?
