why is it?

Post by gahgah604 on May 6th 2009, 5:17 am

I go off nifedipine for a week and my fissure starts hurting! I have no spasms or blood but it feels raw down there if I go off my ointment! I have had this fissure for 4 years almost! My last visit to the specialist was 2 weeks ago and he said it was healed! Why would it still feel raw if the fissure was healed? I am confused, I wish he could take a picture of the fissure and show me so I could see the evidence of the healed fissure! I just don't believe it because every time I try to go off my ointment, a week later I feel raw down there and it stings!

I am happy though that I have no blood or spasms... but it does hurt sometimes and feel raw!

If I have too stay on the nifedipine for ever I will! as long as the ointment keeps the pain away... amen!

Fissures are not always easy to see and as long as you have big discomfort there is a possibility that it is there. Sometimes they heal on the surface and not underneath, sometimes they are hidden in the skin folds etc. The fact that cream helps so much indicates that you have strong spasms going on , although you are not aware of them very much. It is possible - not everybody has same nervous network or same number of pain centers and the same amount of neurotransmitters traveling up to the brain. We are all different ! To me it does not sound unusual at all. When you stop using the cream , your sphincter gets tighter and poop has more narrow passage to go through and causes the pain ! If you are using the cream inside - oh well - than it has a lubricating effect too !!!! So, all in all - nothing unusual, although painful Crying or Very sad .

You can stay on the cream or have the small LIS to make things more relaxed and maybe with time it all will settle down

have you tried an alternative to the nif cream with another cream that is just a lubricant?

maybe that is all you need, a lubricant to help keep the poos coming out and not irritating your anus.

Well, as long as you have the nefedipine, I think I agree with both you and happy, the lube before the BM and the N after!
