My cruising trip

Post by cherylk on October 26th 2009, 12:46 pm

Sidra and other interested persons,

Our cruise went very well. We stayed the night b/4 in Fort Lauderdale, and it was heavenly to sit outside at a restaurant in the nice, warm weather. A couple of days on the ship were slightly rough, and many people had trouble with that and became seasick. But the food was great, and we enjoyed our shore excursion and shopping on the Grand Cayman Islands and also at Cozumel. My digestive process was just fine, and all of the fresh fruits and vegetables no doubt helped with all of that. There were plenty of food selections to choose from on board the ship. We purchased a case of water and took it on board, so I was able to continue with my daily water drinking. I would recommend cruising to anyone who likes to see and learn about lots of interesting places!

Cheryl

That sounds like a lot of fun! It's good to know that the food selection was optimal. I think that a cruise would be a great way to travel if you had a fissure. The bathroom is right there, someone else is driving, and the food is all prepared for you! And you even get nightly turn-down service - reducing your stress level! Glad you had a good time!!

NG,

I exercised very vigorously prior to my trip in anticipation of weight gain. Rolling Eyes I was down on cruising for many years because in the past I just could not resist the sumptuous desserts. This time I did better with the desserts, so I am proud of myself for that. I tried lamb (a first) and an Indian curry dish and disliked both. I think I am doing OK with the weight thing. I went to a stretch class twice, and we walked a few days on the ship. They didn't have aerobics classes.

Only thing a ship doesn't have is a tub (just a shower). So sitting in a tub (for an AF) is an impossibility!

Dazzy,

Since I met no Scots on the ship, I had to hang out with my friend and her sister. I did meet an Australian and some Londoners, but we all know they are no match for the Scots! Laughing Was able to get my pic taken with a guy from the UK who was the shopping guide. If the pic turns out, I'll try to post it. I continued to tell myself that Corsi traveled with an AF, so no matter whatever happened, I was going to be OK also! Very Happy

Speaking of traveling with an AF, when mine was at its VERY worst this past May, I had to go to Disneyland on a family trip! Talk about rough...sitting on those rides, hot sticky seats, strange bathrooms, no tub all day...it was not pretty. Never again! I would definitely take a cruise someday though.

What other cruises have you been on and enjoyed Cheryl?

That sounds like a real challenge for you, busymom! I have been to the Western Caribbean b/4 (Cozumel and Cayman Isles, where I also went this time) and enjoyed the trip. Also have cruised to Alaska; I didn't like the cold, damp weather there in July!

I think a person can continue to go to the same places if they are enjoyable because one can always take different shore excursions which makes for completely new experiences! Cool

BTW--when my butt hurts, I want to be home and not frequenting new and strange bathrooms and toilets!! Rolling Eyes

Thanks, Jo. I enjoyed it even though I didn't know how my digestive system would do with strange food and different schedules!! But the food was for the most part very wholesome and healthy, which made things easier for me! Very Happy
