Passing barium sulfate with an active anal fissure?

November 18th 2009, 4:19 pm by NeuropathicGuy

Hey all,

So I'm getting an abdominal and pelvic CT scan with contrast on Friday. The contrast material is a big bottle of barium sulfate. Does any have experience drinking (and more to the point, passing) barium sulfate while having an active fissure?

I drank barium sulfate for an upper GI test over ten years ago and remember pooping it out as hard chalky stuff, so ...

Generic Miralax

October 12th 2009, 7:54 pm by sidra1968

Hey everyone..just thought I'd mention that CVS now carries a generic version of Miralax, called Purelax, I believe, and it's 50% less expensive. I'm gonna give it a go.

Just thought some of you might want to know,

Hi everyone, hope all of you are doing well!

November 18th 2009, 1:02 pm by sidra1968

Nope, I haven't forgotten any of you or how you've all helped me!! Just been working a lot to pay off that LIS and going to a lot of college games..

I still feel really good. In general, wouldn't know I had anything done, other than a little itching now and then after a BM..well, that and the fact that I buy lots of Miralax. To any newbies reading this, I suggest you read through ...

November 15th 2009, 4:06 pm by sitz-a-lot

Hi,
I've only been dealing with the chronic anal pain for about 6 weeks now- though it seems a lifetime... I was really looking forward to surgery last week to give me some relief. didn't find any fissure! I've been home, mostly in bed, with serious pain since. Yesterday I felt like I might be improving, but then this morning had a painful BM and am down for the day..
My question to...

Unfulfilled colonoscopy

November 5th 2009, 4:18 pm by NeuropathicGuy

Well just thought I'd follow up and let you folks know how my colonoscopy went -- in a nutshell, it was incomplete, so I'm pretty bummed.

I went in, they put the IV in and administered Versed and Fentanyl, both of which I've had for other conscious sedation procedures before, so I was feeling pretty comfortable at that point. I largely conked out due to the sedative and didn't feel...

Diltiazem side effects?

October 27th 2009, 10:33 pm by William

After about a week of taking diltiazem, I've started to feel a little funny a few hours after applying it. Mainly, I feel a little hot and edgy. Has anyone else experienced this?

I don't think I'm putting too much but, just in case, I'll start using less. I was told to take a "pea-sized" amount, so I basically put a thin coat on the top part a finger cot that I visualize i...

Anyone had hemorrhoids banded before?

October 31st 2009, 1:26 pm by NeuropathicGuy

Hi all, I'm getting a colonoscopy this week to get checked out for any underlying causes of my fissure and also because of abdominal pains. I've had internal hemorrhoids for a while (years) and the doctor who is doing the colonoscopy says that while he's "in there" he can also do rubber band litigation on one or two of the hemorrhoids.

Has anyone here had hemorrhoids band...

Has anyone gotten worse after Botox?

October 12th 2009, 11:49 am by NeuropathicGuy

Hi all,

So I thought my fissure was calming down for a while, but lately it's been acting up again -- some pain and bright red bleeding during BMs (relatively minor but consistent and noticeable) has returned. I'm not sure if it's acting up due to recent dietary changes (more junk foods) or drug regimen changes (I stopped all nitro/nifedipine ointments for a week and have been redu...
