Question on Recent Exam

July 3rd 2009, 5:41 pm by Barbie

My OB/GYN did a rectal exam last week and said she felt a mass but wasn't sure whether it was stool she was feeling or what. She didn't want to alarm me but that I should book my colonoscopy ASAP. She wanted to make it that day with the same doc. that I had 5 years ago. But you just do the prep - go that day to the hospital and just see the doc. for 5 min. and then he sends you a letter in the mail. All was normal 5 years ago. My Mom recently had her first colonoscopy at 82 (yes 82!) by a woman gastro. doc. who I met with her when I took her to her appt. She also gives a report of the whole colonoscopy, her findings, biopsy if any, and recommendations. That's what I like and that's why I booked an appt. with her next week. I'm not going to mention this to the gastro. specialist. I don't want to give her any preconceived notions and let her do her own exam. I'll mention the past fistula trouble and hemmies.

Now back to my OB/GYN - right before I went in to my appt. I had to empty my bowels - did you think that would have had any influence on the exam - that my muscles could have still been expanded in there?
