Two steps back....
I am so frustrated. I just can't keep things flowing. I had no blood for two weeks, but yesterday and today, BM was hard and caused me to bleed. I just know I tore any healing that had taken place.
I am trying to figure my diet out basically on my own and from this board. My CRS said nothing except to eat 1/2 cup of All Bran Buds each AM or mix 1 tbsp. Konsyl in AM & PM with Krystal Lite and drink that. He said that would be enough fiber.
I am not taking a stool softener, but I am taking Flax Oil caps 2400 mg each day and magnesium 500 mg each day. Should I be taking something else? I tried Colace once, but did not think it did anything for me.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jennie

Re: Two steps back....
Why not just try the colace again for a couple weeks. It is so inexpensive and safe.
Try eating fibrous and moist, wet foods for breakfast, like Buttgirl has suggested, to perhaps add a bit more water to the part of your stool that sits there the longest in your colon (your breakfast stools).
And *don't* overlook the healing power of the hot baths. Heat and moisture at the site will bring blood to the area and it may not seem like much, but if done consistently several times a day over a period of time, it can *really* make a difference.
Just a thought.

Re: Two steps back....
If Colace doesn't work you might try Miralax or Milk of Magnesia. A little bleeding from time to time happened to me when I was healing from the first go around with this. I was upsetting but I learned after time that it didn't mean that I was back at square one.
Try one of the stool softeners and see how that works.

Re: Two steps back....
I'm not sure how much colace you're taking, but you might want to try taking a higher dosage... i've started taking 600mg a day... this is more than the recommended dosage, but two of my crs's have said it's okay to take that much (and sometimes they prescribe even more)... but i would consult with your doctor first.
i've just increased my dosage... the last time i did it, i seemed to break out in a crazy rash... which went away when i decreased the dosage... so we'll see what happens this time around.
over the past 4 months, i've tried many many diet changes, but in the end, nothing has really helped much with my constipation / hard bms / bleeding.
